‘Namgis First Nation and the Village of Alert Bay are jointly working on an economic development strategy.

A lot of work has been done in the past to come up with economic development action ideas.  Now it’s time to evaluate and prioritize these actions and decide which ones to move forward with, together.

EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENTS

At the February 26th event, we had a few exciting announcements to share:

1. Vancity will be opening a branch on the island. They are currently hiring for two positions.

2. Reconciliation Canada may be involved in implementing parts of the plan.

3. A temporary position has been created jointly by the Village and 'Namgis to start implementing the plan. We've hired someone to start mid-march.

Check out the event report (to the right) for a summary of feedback from the event.
